facebooktwittermain post image

Ever wonder if being a truck driver is the right thing for you? Jobs like these are nice especially when you know you will have a good salary. Keep in mind not all truck drivers get paid the same rate. There are a lot of key factors that determine the amount that you will get paid. Below we will give you a list of different things that will impact the amount you will get paid and the different types of jobs you can have in a truck driving company.

What determines the amount truck drivers get paid?

  • Distance/ Mileage

The distance that you drive is one of the main things that decide how much you get paid. With most trucking companies they actually pay by the mile, which could be the main thing that decides your wages. This can be anywhere from $0.27 to $0.40 per mile. Other smaller trucking companies that just drive the truck within their state will most likely be paying by the hour, but the distance that you drive will still help influence how much you will get paid. This can range anywhere from $16.50 to $23.50 an hour.

  • Training and License

Having the proper training and license when driving a truck will also determine how much the company is willing to pay you. Some companies will actually pay a wage during your training and get you ready to drive when you sign up with them, but it will be a lower wage until fully trained.
